Smalltown Poets has quietly racked up ten albums and ten songs in the Top Ten Charts over the last twenty-five years. If you have never heard them, you have truly missed out. They have a great blend of beautiful melodies and talented transitions which are very reminiscent of the late 90's pop/rock scene in which they started. The band first formed in 1996 in Tifton, Georgia under their original name of Villanelle.Smalltown Poets

Some of the band's first radio hits included the songs "Prophet, Priest, and King" from their debut album. Songs from their sophomore and junior albums had great pop/rock ballads like "Firefly" and the more upbeat "Anything Genuine." After releasing four albums from 1997 to 2004, the band decided to take a hiatus. They wouldn't return until 2011 with a Christmas album. They also released a digital EP in 2012 called Under the New Sun. A second Christmas album followed in 2014.

For their Say Hello album in 2018, Smalltown Poets rejoined Ardent Studios in Memphis who previously had helped them produce their first three albums. Smalltown Poets is currently planning a tour this summer and have no sign of slowing down. If you need some really good melodic pop/rock from artists who never appear lazy with their writing or song structure, check out Smalltown Poets as they celebrate twenty-five years!
