Formed in 2018 by lead guitarist Steve Scott, The Word66 comes right out of the "City of Lights," Las Vegas, Nevada, with a clean, hard-rocking sound! Steve Scott brought on bassist and lead vocal Brian Torres and drummer Dave Murray to form a pretty exceptional rocking trio. The Word66 has already made their mark on the industry through gut-punching guitar riffs and uncompromising lyrics about who Jesus is and what He has done. Their sound is definitely modern but still gives you a nostalgic feeling of old school metal. The comparison to old school Christian metal pioneers like Bloodgood and Petra cannot be ignored. The band continues to find new ways to expand their sound despite its simple song structure.

The Word66 gets its name from a moniker of the Bible often referred to as the "Word of God" and being comprised of 66 books. From the very beginning, The Word66 has made their albums available globally which has allowed them reach a huge audience in six short years. They have also achieved Number One status on SpiderWebRadio. Their four-track EP, "On the Way to the Promise Land" released in 2021, gained huge success with its overly visual artwork on the album cover and songs that kept the listener very engaged. Their album artwork was done by artist Joao Duarte. Their EP included a great cover of Norman Greenbam's 1969 song, "Spirit in the Sky." The band stayed true to the original while introducing their own take on it.

As of right now, The Word66 is currently on hiatus from touring for personal reasons, but be sure to check them out by following them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube. Also don't forget you can hear their great rocking sound everyday on 97X!
