Fireflight is an American Christian rock band formed in Eustis, Florida, in 1999. The group was founded by guitarist Justin Cox, bassist Wendy Drennen, and drummer Phee Shorb, later joined by vocalist Dawn Michele, whose powerful voice became a defining part of their sound.
From the beginning, Fireflight sought to create music that combined hard-hitting rock with messages of faith, hope, and perseverance. Their independent debut album, Glam-Rok (2002), helped them build a grassroots following. They gained national attention after signing with Flicker Records and releasing The Healing of Harms (2006), which featured themes of redemption and resilience.
The band broke through with their 2008 album Unbreakable, whose title track became a major hit on Christian radio and was even featured in TV promotions for NBC’s Bionic Woman. Their passionate live performances and honest lyrics about struggle and faith helped them connect deeply with audiences.
