Rusty Shipp is an independent Christian rock band known for a very distinctive concept-driven style they call "nautical rock 'n roll." The band's name comes from their lead singer, Russ T. Shipp. Rusty Shipp was formed in 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee. The band has built a cohesive artistic identity around ocean imagery and great storytelling. Their sound broken up has been called grunge, surf rock and alternative. The band has a trademark of their songs having underwater sound design and dark tones with haunting vocals and heavy riffs. Their message is a simple one that focuses on hope, redemption, and struggle. Many of their songs involve oceans and depth symbolizing salvation versus drowning. The band is quoted as wanting to inspire imagination and hope through their music. Some of their popular albums include Liquid Exorcist and Dark Side of the Ocean. Both albums hold their own respectively with a solid presentation of inspiring music. The band won the Song of the Year (Rock) award at the 2023 Josie Music Awards for "Living Waters."
On a personal note, we love this band. If you love a jamming rock sound with excellent vocals, then Rusty Shipp is the band for you.
